Millet porridge - tasty alternative for breakfast
An healthy meal that promises to calm your cravings for sugar during the day
Ingredients for 1 person:
40 gr. millet
1 teaspoon of butter
1/2 cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon of cardamome
4 cloves
a pinch of salt
half a juice of a small orange (I use blood orange, because I love it)
water
1/2 teaspoon of honey
fruit
• In a saucepan, toast millet high heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon: it will release a nutty taste of the grain.
• Add the orange juice, cinnamon stick, cardamom, butter and salt. Fill with water to cover the grains. Heat to a simmer, lower the heat, cover and cook about 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
• Stop cooking just before the total absorption of the liquid and add the honey. Serve it with some fresh fruit or some nuts (walnuts, grapes, dates, etc.)
Enjoy!
